Last night I went to Tropical Soul, a soul lounge, in the heart of Richmond, Va. Every Tuesday they have an event called Verses, which consists of local poets, singers, musicians and even rappers. It is an open mic event so there is always someone new performing there. I had the pleasure of performing one of my own poems and even hear the work of the famous Talaam Acey. One young man that stood out to me was a Jazz musician, composer, rapper, and producer. His name is Ryan Easter and I have previously heard of him through many mutual friends of ours. He did two selections but his last selection entitled Object of Desire really stuck with me. I was blessed with the track this morning thanks to him via twitter and I thought that I would share it with my fellow lovers of good music.
